La Torretta

La Torretta is an enchanting trullo built in a typical style for the area around Ostuni. Staying in a trullo is a magical experience and every part of La Torretta is a highlight!
An ancient olive tree shades an outside dining area which is enveloped by the smell of aromatic herbs and lavender. In the evening little lanterns hanging in the tree light up the space- it is spectacular! Just behind the trullo is the Jacuzzi. Once you have taken in enough sun, you can find some refuge in a hammock under the bamboo thatched roofs.
The thick walls of the trullo also keep its interior nice and cool in the summer. The bedroom is located under the dome of the trullo and, as tradition dictates, the bed is tucked into a little alcove. Despite its generous size it is not taking away much space of the room itself. The fireplace corner is a cozy spot to spend your evenings in autumn and winter.
In fact, the day could not have a better ending than with a good book and a nice glass of the excellent regional red wine in front of the warming fire.
The kitchen is great for cooking and having nice fresh meals together, while the view out of the kitchen window inspires you to put on your walking shoes and discover more of the splendid surroundings. Even the bathroom is worth writing home about. The owner, a lovely and very creative lady has tiled parts of the walls with some broken ceramic pieces – the result is magnificent.
This trullo combines tradition with a fun and well-thought-through design. All the rooms are very airy and filled with light. A true marvel!
Two sweet dogs might keep you company during your stay. They are very well-behaved, do not enter the house and do not beg at the table.
Also note that La Torretta is only a hundred meters away from La Casa Delle Luci. For larger groups both can be rented together.

“Tom and I had a really wonderful time at La Torretta, we did not want to leave and have already talked about going back next year!
Serena was a charming and very welcoming hostess, we felt relaxed straight away. The house was beautiful and we loved the décor and thoughtful touches; it was incredibly sweet of Serena to leave fruit, wine, and biscuits for us. We loved the little nooks in the walls filled with lovely things and also the ceramic kitchenware which was so stylish. We could tell that lots of love and attention had been paid to La Torretta which made our stay even more special. We especially enjoyed the outdoor areas and plants as each section felt like a little room. It was so peaceful out in the countryside and we hardly saw anyone, it was so quiet!
Although it feels remote, we were so pleased to find that we were half way between two beautiful towns – Ostuni and Cisternino, both of which we visited for dinner. We also visited Lecce, Locorotondo, Grottaglie and Savelletri from the house although we didn’t have time for Polignano a Mare or Monopoli, which we wanted to visit. It was nice to have the option of interesting places to visit nearby.
The only thing we both noticed was that the bed and mattress were hard, we had a couple of restless nights (but maybe this is simply because we are used to softer bedding?).
I also thought it might be nice to have a couple of board games? Although may be difficult as there are so many different nationalities staying there.
Peace, quiet, style and substance – La Torretta is paradise! This was mine and Tom’s first holiday abroad together and we will never forget it, it was everything we had hoped for. We are thinking about taking friends next time to show it off!
Thank you very much for all of your help. Please do also pass our comments on to Serena as well.”
