Masseria Pistola perfectly combines the space and ambiance of a private home with the amenities and services of a hotel.
The owner bought the Masseria after many years of neglect and brought in a team of renown architects and local craftsmen, who restored the property extensively but preserved as much of the original structure as possible.
Most of the 10 ensuite bedrooms are now located in the trulli with their domed roofs, while 2 further Suites with vaulted ceilings and fireplaces occupy the first floor of the main building. More private from the rest is the Trulli Cottage with 2 bedrooms, its own kitchen and walled garden with plunge pool.
The style can be described as rustic, cosy and comfortable with furnishings being a mix of antiques and pretty decorative objects found locally or further afield.
Outside a heatable swimming pool is surrounded by beautiful Mediterranean gardens. Pergolas offering shade during the summer months and sheltered courtyards invite for long delicious meals. The cuisine prepared by the Masseria’s chef is laid-back and most importantly local, using their own produce, that of the surrounding farms and the nearby fish market.
The team will also be happy to arrange all sorts of activities like picnics, boat trips, a cooking course with the chef, wine tastings or spa treatments.
Masseria Pistola is located in a picturesque valley, the Canale Del Pirro, with vineyards, grazing horses, dry stone walls and woodland. It is an ideal position to explore the highlights of the region: from the hilltop villages of the Valle d’Itria to pretty seaside towns and beaches along the Adriatic.
Giardini Pistola is part of the estate and is open to the general public and Masseria guests. The gardens also include a farm shop selling the organic produce of Masseria Pistola and Masseria Petrarolo, as well as an amphitheatre which is used for cultural events in spring and summer.
The region of Puglia is an attractive destination all year round and Masseria Pistola is always a perfect base for a group of family and friends. Envision balmy summer evenings under the stars after a day by the pool or by the sea and cosy evenings in front of the fire after a day of exploring during the cooler months.
"We had a wonderful week at Pistola.
Thank you for everything!!!"
(Christian S., U.S.A., June 2024)"Given we were the first real group of guests to stay and how recently the property had been completed I think things were really very good.
Highlights list:
1. Eugenio the house manager was absolutely amazing. A absolute pleasure to deal with and very responsive regardless of the time of day.
2. The chef Luciano was also absolutely amazing. Everybody loved him and had a fabulous time learning to cook pasta with him. His food was amazing but it was also his personality that made him such a pleasure to deal with.
Things that need a little work: (I’m sure a number of these have already happened)
1. We did have a few problems with the water going off and the water pressure was very bad.
2. There really isn’t adequate outdoor lounging for the amount of people the property accommodates.
3. They also need full length mirrors and some drawers in the wardrobes would have been good for a one week stay.
Overall we had a fantastic week and any small issues were very quickly dealt with by Eugenio. He and Luciano really made the week."
