Trullo La Cipressa is a trullo complex in the hilly countryside of the Valle d’Itria, near the pretty town of Cisternino.
The trulli have been meticulously restored and extended under the supervision of a renowned architect-couple from the region. The main aim of the restoration was to maintain and to enhance the original beauty of the property.
Only traditional and local materials, such as local chianche, tufo stone, lime paint, iron and cocciopesto, were used in the process.
At the same time, modern conveniences, like air-conditioning, were seamlessly incorporated.
The end result is that of understated luxury: rich in details, atmosphere and comfort, while simultaneously going back to the roots, to the simplicity of countryside living. A return to a way of life which is dictated by nature and more in tune with its surroundings.
Many of the decorative elements were found onsite and reused, others were sourced from local antique markets or are part of the owners’ family history. Everything was carefully chosen, both for its meaning and its beauty.
The structure feels generous with a nice flow and convenient layout of rooms.
The inside dining room can host up to 8 guests and is nestled between the country-chic-kitchen and living area. For the cooler months a wood burning oven adds to the cosiness.
A few steps up are 3 of the 4 bedrooms: a double with ensuite bathroom and 2 twin-bedded bedrooms sharing a bathroom (one of the twin beds can be turned into a double bed). The 4th bedroom with bathroom is positioned overlooking the pool, with private access from the outside.
In the back of the trulli the splendid name giver takes centre stage: an impressive Cypress tree. From here the view goes out onto the vast hills and fields of the property, which even features its own little woodland
to explore. The terrace with built-in sofas and a large dining table in the shade, is right next to a BBQ area on one side and the pool, in elevated position, on the other side.
All in all, an ideal place to enjoy the surrounding nature and its offerings: a breakfast with fresh fruit from the land, a nice glass of local wine for aperitivo or a wholesome meal made with vegetables harvested straight from the garden.

Der Trullo war sehr schön, sauber und sehr gut ausgestattet, die Kommunikation mit Doriana und Edoardo schnell und problemlos, der Garten weitläufig und sehr geschätzt von unseren Kindern.
Also alles in allem gibt es von unserer Seite überhaupt nichts negatives anzumerken.
Das einzige was vielleicht fehlt, ist ein grosser Spiegel im Haus!
Achso und eine Sache noch vielleicht. Dadurch, dass es im Haus am Abend und in der Nacht schon recht kühl war, reichten die dünnen Leintücher in den Betten nicht aus. Für den Austausch zu „normalen“ Bettdecken haben wir 40 Euro extra gezahlt. Ich finde das eigentlich nicht ganz richtig, da in dieser Jahreszeit eigentlich davon ausgegangen werden kann, dass es mehr braucht als Leintücher. Aber dies ist nur ein kleines Detail.

The Cipressa was perfect. It was a very nice and comfortable villa and everything you needed was there. It is very well decorated with beautiful fabrics and interesting decor. Very tasteful.
The bathrooms and the kitchen were very comfortable. The swimming pool was clean. Everything was clean. Really nothing to complain about.
Maybe the only thing that was missing was a full body mirror, but not a problem. I also loved the position of the house. I love la Valle d´Itria. Beautiful with the trulli.
Also the chef Lucrezia was really nice and had prepared a beautiful dinner.
